End White Supremacy
Our lives are less abundant because people who should have every right to dignity are denied it because of the color of their skin. I know that my life is lesser because people who are intelligent do not get the same access to education because of the circumstances of their upbringing because of systemic racism.
For me, as a white person, the journey to ending white supremacy begins with my own work. I can only give advice to other white people; it feels imperfect and incomplete, but as the disclaimer says, please correct me if I'm wrong here:
Take an interest in anti-racism training, either through SURJ or a faith group.
If you are feeling defensive in a situation involving race, take deep breaths and emotionally regulate before responding.
Respond with curiosity and a desire for deeper understanding.
Learn when a space is not the place for a white person's voice or perspective and do not take up unnecessary space.
