Home Studio: Policies

Lessons with Melting Virgo at my home studio will be booked on a monthly basis. Each 30 min lesson costs $40. Lesson holds cost $20 each during high-travel months of the year.

• The following days will be considered holidays, where no lesson fee or hold will be charged:

  • • The week between Christmas and New Year’s

    • Federal holidays as listed by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management

• School Year Classes: 

  • • Fall Semester: September-November, all non-holiday lessons must be booked

    • Spring Semester: January-May, all non-holiday lessons must be booked, except for one "hold" per student for spring break

• High-Travel Months: During the summer months June, July, and August, and for the winter holidays in December, you may place “holds” on an as needed basis. At the start of each of these month, you will let Alice know how many lesson holds you need to place for known travel and pay the adjusted price for lessons. Additional holds may not be requested mid-month.

• Teacher Absence Policy: 

  • Travel: If Alice is absent for personal travel, students and parents will be notified in advance and no lesson or hold fee will be charged. 

  • Illness or Emergency: If Alice is absent due to illness or personal emergency, she will do her best to contact you and either offer the class online, find a substitute, or provide a refund. Your patience with unpredictable situations is appreciated.

Student Absence Policy: Due to my only being in the neighborhood a couple days per week, make-ups for missed lessons cannot be guaranteed. If there are students with compatible rescheduling needs, Alice will do her best to ensure that you get your classes in when possible.

Student Illness Policy: If you are up for online class then Alice welcomes an online lesson. Do not send a sick child to class. If Alice notices symptoms, she may elect to have the student either wear a mask or end class early. If a doctor has told you that your student is non-communicable but symptomatic, please communicate this at the start of class so that we can both mask up. Alice doesn't want to risk getting sick or passing illness along to other students, so please be respectful of this policy. Unfortunately, missing class due to illness is not refundable.

All students will be invited to a showcase and party in the spring!

For payment, I prefer check made out to “Melting Virgo” or cash, though I can also accept Venmo or CashApp with a 5% fee.
